Cautery Surgery Many surgical procedures (spays, neuters, mass removals) can be enhanced by the use of our CO2 surgical laser, instead of the more traditional scalpel. Although not ideal for all surgeries, the laser has the benefits of sealing small blood vessels and nerves as it cuts. This results in less bleeding during the procedure, less pain in the post-operative period and a shorter recovery time. Anesthesia The most important part of surgical safety is anesthesia safety, and at Flora Family Vet, our team consistently focuses on your pet’s anesthetic safety during their procedure. We perform pre-anesthetic blood work to make sure that our patients can safely receive anesthesia and to help us determine the right amount to administer. During the surgery, each patient is carefully monitored by an Anesthesia Nurse to ensure that their vital signs remain at safe levels throughout. We also provide pre-emptive pain control to keep your pet comfortable at all times.
